Our Story

Born from a vision to transform South Africa's creative landscape, the Local Content Production Finance Fund was established in 2019 as a strategic government initiative to address critical gaps in film and television financing.

2019

Foundation

LCPFF launched with R500 million initial funding, focusing on supporting emerging filmmakers and promoting local content.

2020

First Successes

Despite global challenges, we funded 25 productions, including breakthrough series that gained international recognition.

Expansion

Fund expanded to R1.2 billion, introducing specialized programs for documentaries and emerging talent development.

With over 15 years in film finance and production, Dr. Mthembu leads LCPFF's strategic vision. Previously served as Head of Content Development at the National Film and Video Foundation.
